Anyone who has ever experienced a real scary situation where lives were in danger or other important things were at stake is about to groan at this post. I experienced one of my first ever actually scary moments. It may seem trivial to some, but it worried me... a lot.
Soooo... my kitten decided today that he wanted to be a rock star (great beginning to a story, I know). An acoustic guitar was sitting around in my room, perched upright against my bed, and Toby started makin some music with it. He'd use his paws and his teeth to pluck strings and actually get some good ringing sound out of it. Daniel and I were sitting comfortably on my bed, listening to the soothing music Toby was producing, when something happened. I didn't know what was happening, but the sounds from the guitar had stopped and all of a sudden Daniel had jumped off of the bed and was doing something to the guitar. I get up to see that Toby had bitten on to one or a few (I'm not really sure) of the strings and they had either gotten stuck in his teeth or had just too much tension on his jaw and he was stuck with his little face trapped against the guitar.
Daniel picked up the rest of his body so he wouldn't hurt his neck by dangling from the strings and then tried to ease up on his mouth so he could get off. It really didn't seem like it was working and I was about to cry from being so worried for my kitty. Toby looked so scared and was making these horrible little noises like he was in a lot of pain and fear. I put my finger in his mouth to try to figure out how to get him off of there, but it was scary to feel how tight the strings were stuck in his little, fragile jaw. I suggested trying to loosen the strings or something, but Daniel was able to free Toby somehow. Toby was pretty freaked out, and strangely cuddly the rest of the night. I'm a little worried that he may have lost a tooth or two in the process (which he isn't supposed to lose for another couple months), but right now I'm really hoping that his jaw is okay. He got pretty affectionate afterwards, like he seemed to know we were trying to help him.
The poor little kitty was so scared, and I was a little freaked out myself. I guess I got just the tiniest glimpse of how scary it would be to have one of your children be in danger. I almost started crying because I didn't know how to help my little kitty, so I'm sure that in a case with children I would be a pretty big mess. Hopefully maternal instinct would kick in enough for me to figure something out. I'm really glad Daniel was there to help. It's cute to see a guy go into rescue mode, especially for a kitten.
Ah, maybe I freaked out a little too much. I may have to work on that. Til then, I think Toby should stick to playing the drums.

Oh my goodness. I would have started bawling.
I'm glad Daniel was there and taking action. I admire him for that.
What a scare!
so the question on my mind is was it my guitar or dad's martin? i would be impressed if he knew to go for the nice one.
wow, poor little guy! good thing you were there when it happened!
