Bloggity Schploggity.

I love Sundays. This last Sunday, I was faced with a decision about whether or not to go work on Pre-Recruitment business for the day with the sorority, or go to Church. I'm so very happy that I decided to go to Church. It was fast and testimony meeting, and everyone's testimonies were very touching. I know I got up and said something, but I couldn't really tell you what. I felt like I was supposed to get up and say something, but I just didn't know what. Something like 9 couples in our ward are now engaged, so our ward is about to shrink. I think I said something about how us non-engaged folk who are still going to be in the singles wards shouldn't give up on our tiny little group. Lots of people are talking about ward hopping on Sundays to meet other singles, but for the time being, I'm happy right where I am =) So, I'm just really thankful that I was able to go to Church without getting in trouble or being fined by the sorority.

However, besides Sundays, pre-recruitment is taking over my life for the next few days. I've been so focused on it lately that I almost forgot that I start classes this week! I finally was able to register for my last class, so my 20 units are all signed up for, wait list free! Go figure, just as soon as I'm ready to just have some fun, I have to go back to school =(

Last night, I had a friend give me a blessing for the school year. It was really awesome, and felt so comforting. It felt like I have been doing things right lately, and I'll be able to pull off this hard work to get to do what I want to do. Speaking of which, the idea of getting either a Ph. D or Psy. D has sounded somewhat more reasonable these days. My sister once sent me an article about a woman who was married and worked towards getting her Ph. D and had 2 children along the way. It sounded difficult, but doable. We'll see. I'm just saying I'm not completely against the idea at this point.

I didn't have any really related pictures to share today, so here's some random good stuff.

*Disclaimer: The "slave kitten" picture posted above is not Toby. Though they look alike, my kitty will never carry buckets. Never.

Newly Discovered Pet Peeve

So, while I was at Jamba Juice today (I know, you're happy for me, high five!), I discovered something that really bothers me. I really don't like when there's a manager or very confident employee who gives excellent customer service, but turns around and is rude to everyone working with or for them. It makes me about as mad as if someone is rude to me as a customer. It's fake, it's stupid, and it's butt kissing. And I don't like people kissing my butt. And I really don't like rude people. So when this manager who just finished yelling at an employee and talking down to everyone turns to me with a big grin on his face and says "Thanks so much for stopping by, enjoy your Jamba Juice!" as he hands me my Strawberry Surf Rider (with a Vita Boost), I want to punch him in the neck. But then I don't, probably because that would be rude.

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

I haven't blogged in a while, mainly because I haven't had a whole lot to blog about, but now there's some exciting news! My sister gave birth to her third child yesterday! He's 8 lbs. 0.5 oz. and has a little head of hair. He was due in about 2 weeks, but I'm glad he's punctual. Late people make me mad. His intense promptness has presented a slight problem for me, but nothing that can't be fixed, and nothing I'll reveal until it's fixed. We're all very excited.

I've been spending a lot of time out of town lately, mainly due to pre-recruitment. My sorority has stuff every day getting ready for recruitment, which happens the first week of school. That's pretty much going to be my life until school starts. I've also been trying to hang out with some college friends more often, and it's been nice catching up with them. It seems like people are pretty cool about my whole converting thing. Some people are a little weirder to talk to about it than others, but overall as long as I make sure they see that it's something I'm happy about, they usually say they're happy for me.

Toby's doing well. He goes a little nuts at night still, but I think he's learning. Every morning he tries to eat my face at least once, not really biting, but sniffing and nibbling and stuff. He met the niece and nephew and they all like eachother. E really enjoys playing with him, feeding him, and carrying him. He can even recite to you all the rules about playing with the kitten. Em is also pretty excited around him, but she's not so good at being gentle, so we have to be a little more careful with her.

Tobeezie

By special request, here's some more pictures of the kitten. If you want to know why I'm on the computer less these days, here's a picture to explain. Any time the laptop's open, he wants to lay on the keyboard. Hopefully I can break him of that habit before school starts and I need to do work on here. Then I can blog more often again too. He's very computer smart, as he's now instant messaged 2 of my friends and bookmarked three websites.
We decided on the name "Toby". He's still adorable and I love him very much. He's gotten a little bit of a belly since he's been here. The vet told me that you can't really overfeed a kittn, you should just let them eat as much as they want. We're guessing that he was a little malnourished when we got him, so that explains the belly now that he's all full of kitten food. He's super playful, which is fun. He might be getting bored of this room and his toys though, so I'm probably going to let him explore the house more over the next few days.
He usually plays for an hour or two, and then naps for many hours. This all works out well for me usually, except when he gets really playful late at night and pounces on everything on the bed, including me. Trying to fix that habit too so I can get some good solid sleep again. This is Toby watching and trying to catch this little bubble thing that floated around on the TV screen.
Lastly, here's him passed out, as he often is. Come play with him. He likes people.

My New Friend

I got a kitten today. Random, I know, but there's a bit of a story behind this. The other day, we were at my grandma's house, eating lunch, and she had a pair of kittens outside. They were these tiny little white kittens that she would feed from time to time. They had a little bit of grey that made them look a little siamese too. Anyway I got the idea of taking one home to take care of it (this was before I knew there were 2 of them). I tried to coax it out of the bush it was hiding in, but it was very shy. I gave her a little food and she would come a little closer sometimes, but as soon as there was any real movement, she would jump back in the bush. So I gave up on the supershy kitty but not on the idea of having a kitten. So I checked out Craigslist last night and found a lady who was trying to find a home for 2 male kittens. I called her, and one of them had already been taken.
I went over to her house, checked out this little guy, and the rest is history.
He's adorable, and the lady estimated that he's about 6 weeks old. He's really affectionate and playful, and so far likes bonding with people. At the house I picked him up from, they had all sorts of pets, including a dog bigger than our dog, and the little kitten got along with him just fine. Once he's used to all of us and more settled (and had a checkup at the vet), we'll introduce him to the other animals.I've been having some trouble coming up with a name for him, though. So far, the two candidate names are Toby (because it's cute and could be a play on "tabby" if that's the sort of cat he is) and Simba (like in the Lion King). If you can come up with any other names that would fit a little orange and white kitty, let me know, or let me know what you think of these two name ideas. Come play with him sometime, he can tire me out!
