One thing I'm excited for is the Sacramento Temple dedication this Sunday. I received 2 tickets to go see the dedication in person, I guess because I'm a new convert. I'm not sure how close up or anything I'll be, but it should be pretty cool. It's pretty awesome since I'm sure I probably won't have another opportunity to see another temple dedication, especially not in person. I've toured the temple twice, and it is amazing. It's the most beautiful place I've ever been, and I felt better and more at home there than pretty much anywhere I've ever been. Here's a picture of some friends and me at the temple.

As I said earlier, I registered for classes. I changed my plan about which classes to take because I found out that pretty much all of my teachers this quarter were going to be bad. So, I changed out one of them, and got into the others, except one which I have to waitlist. I also decided to take an exercise walking/running class. It's just 1 hour, twice a week (and only 1/2 a unit). I've been thinking, though, and I'm tempted to take another class this quarter. If I pack on a lot of units Fall and Winter quarter, it'll make it a lot easier to do both the Human Development and Psychology degrees in 4 years. So, I guess I'd like some advice on whether or not people think it's crazy to take 20.5 units in one quarter. I've heard some other people say it's not too bad. What do other people think?

I've done it while raising a family (I think...maybe it was only 19.5). At any rate, it would be no more intense than a full-time job, just more flexible (and harder to stay motivated).
I say it's fine IF the individual classes aren't especially hard and IF you're not working too much. Considering the nature of your current job, even lots of hours would probably include time to study, so that's probably not a danger.
And I'm always in favor of using time more efficiently and not stretching out a task (college) longer than it needs to be completed.
BUT you seem to put more hours of study into each class than Horn or I ever did... perhaps more devoted to reaching an "A"? anyway, if you do put more time in for each unit, maybe it's not a good fit for you personally.
and yeah, Horn always had 17-19 units. and a job. and that was while keeping up an awesome marriage and raising not just "a family" but fussy, sleepless baby E. So it's possible. But nobody expected A's.
Hmm.. alright, well I'm considering it. I don't get to register for over 19 units until open registration, but the class I'm looking at has quite a few spots left, and supposedly a pretty good teacher, too. I've already been to human development advising and have all of that planned out, so I think I'll go to Psych advising today and see if it's even possible for me to do this without going over the max. # of units. If I end up only minoring in Psych, I probably don't need to make this quarter too intense.
yeah, you can basically do it. just make sure to look at the sylabii and make sure that you won't have any weeks with 3 midterms or anything. the exam schedule is usually what will determine how hard you'll be working, not the number of lectures you have to attend.
I never came up against that max units rule, but isn't there a waiver for it?
